Fish Milkshakes and 80's Hair

Happenings here on the homefront... Hmmm...

We got an interesting call on April Fool's Day. It was from the ex-wife of Mack. After several minutes, cause she talks real S L O W, we found out that Many Things (aka Mike's son and my new stepson) had gotten into a fight at school. Many Thing's jaw was broken in two places.

Now, we wanted to give the ex-wife credit for being really clever and coming up with the ultimate April Fool's joke... but, we knew this wasn't the case. This kind of cleverness is not in her repertoire.

We talked to Many Things who seemed to be in great spirits considering his jaw was broken in two places. I think it was the Vicodin talking. But he was also very proud of the fact that his jaw was broken in two places. This was evident by the fact that he kept reiterating this fact. We'll see if he feels so great about it in the six weeks that his jaw is wired shut and he is relegated to getting all of his nutrition through a straw.

Of course, I don't see how it could truly be considered a fight. The boy got his ass served to him on a platter and it doesn't seem that he even got a hit in. Oh wait... he had the boy, who is apparently built like a brick shithouse (a football player), in a headlock. His fatal mistake was letting him go. What was the fight about? Apparently Many Things and the Brick have been exchanging some words at school. Just so happened that on Tuesday the Brick pushed Many Things and the result was "the fight".

Seriously, we love you, Many Things! Hope you're enjoying your fish milkshakes :)

I also went back to work on Tuesday. That was the ultimate April Fool's joke for me... the fact that I had to return to the Evil Empire. I was happy to see all of my co-workers since it had been five weeks since I had seen most of them. Here it is the end of the week and I still have not had the chance to catch up with most of them... because I did my specific job for about two hours before I was sent to work in another part of our department for the rest of the week. Which means I spend hours by myself with very little human contact. Some days this is nice and it gives me time to think. Other days that thinking part drives me insane.

I also ended up in shipping for half a day on my second day back. Now, I've had five weeks off. The most strenuous exercise I've done was all the walking in New Orleans. I've done no heavy lifting or anything that required that I get my ass in gear (at the Empire I have production to meet). So five weeks of non-lifting straight in to heaving some heavy cases in shipping. Saying I'm a little sore is an understatement.

But wait... I found out yesterday that NKOTB is having a reunion tour! Yeah, I was a Blockhead way back in the day. I know that there are fellow Blockheads out there that are equally as excited! It should be interesting considering that the oldest is now 39 and my beloved Joey is now 35. Now I'm saddened by the realization that somewhere amongst all my moves I've misplaced quite a collection of what would now be vintage NKOTB t-shirts :(

Damn, I could have sold those for a fortune now.

Also, in my last post about our adventures in New Orleans I forgot to mention that on that particular night we ended up on Bourbon Street at "The Cat's Meow" which is a karaoke bar. We heard the host from outside and he was quite entertaining so we wandered on in.

It was that particular evening that Mack had his first Hurricane. I had warned him that they had the tendency to sneak up on ya and before you knew it you'd be shit faced. This didn't prevent him, however, from sucking down four of them like they were Kool-Aid. Somehow he managed to take the stage, "sing" a horrible rendition of "Here I Go Again", forget the words, and style a pretty horrendous wig of 80's hair (which he asked for). He doesn't remember too much after that. Come to think of it... he doesn't remember too much of that particular experience at all. He didn't even remember asking for the wig. Knowing that Michael probably wouldn't remember any of the events, I had thoughtfully snapped some pics so that he wouldn't miss out. I'm such a good wife.

Okay... so I really took those pics for my amusement and for everyone's pleasure back home.
