Name That Dog

So, I’m on my way to Staunton this morning trying to get to my first work order on time (I left a little later than I had anticipated and that particular appointment would later become a major cluster fuck I wont get into), when I get an excited little text from my dear wife. Reading a text message and controlling a fast moving vehicle on the interstate, whilst weaving in and out of slow moving traffic, from other drivers who obviously were on time to where ever they happened to be going, requires a little dexterity from even the best of us seasoned drivers. To decipher that same text in those conditions took more brainpower than I could muster that early in my day.

If I remember it correctly, the words “Australian Shepard”, “Sean”, “SPCA”, and “GET THEIR NUMBER AND CALL” stuck out in my mind. At first I thought Candy was pissed at her ex-husband for dropping off a dog at the animal shelter. I was close. Though the ex-husband was not at all involved.

Apparently, an Australian Shepard mix named “Sean” had conveniently found residence at the Augusta SPCA in Staunton and was available for adoption. I made a phone call to see whether or not this particular canine was still there, and “lucky” for me, he was.

Having my Firedog vehicle rummaged through during my weekend off, I had found that my little stash of cables I use during home theater set ups was not in their storage bends in the car. So I was forced to return to Harrisonburg to pick some up. Already starting my day off on a bad note, I figured “I’m already in Staunton, let’s try and brighten the mood and take a look at this dog……and perhaps send a few pics to my hard working better half".

Upon arriving at the animal shelter, I was met at the desk by the lady I had talked with briefly on the phone on the interstate. She knew who I was from our conversation. She led me back in the holding area where all the doggies were kept and told me with a devious smile to “take my time”. I perused around for a few minutes, using this time to calm down from having to return to Harrisonburg for 3 stupid little cables, and started making my way around the multitude of cages and barking canines. Of course I was slowly falling in love with several other dogs (“Boy” was a cutie, in my opinion), before happening upon Casandra’s new love; Sean.

YES. He was a gorgeous specimen to behold: White with black accents throughout his furry coat and piercing, yet beautiful multicolored eyes. And a nonchalant demeanor like that of Casandra’s first love; her dog at home, Cooper.

I took the time to text Sweet Tea a photo of ‘ol Sean. And let her in on a few little things about the dog that were written on his bio card.

Apparently, Sean is deaf. And has “visual problems”. Though my short assessment of him did not find this to be the case. I was in a hurry though, so I can’t be too sure.

I guess I will know tomorrow when I come home to spend more time with him….

Oh! Did I mention we are getting yet another dog?
